A one week miracle for children with cancer.

Camp Happy Times 25th Anniversary Campaign

Twenty-five years ago, a one-week miracle for kids with cancer was established and aptly named Camp Happy Times. In the loving environment of summer camp, priorities quickly shift to exploring the countless ways one can have fun. The CHT 25th Anniversary Campaign will benefit all children cared for through The Valerie Fund - including those who attend camp and those for whom the goal of getting to camp offers hope for the future.

Camp Happy Times is a free-of-charge, one-week overnight camping experience:

• For 200 kids ages 5 to 21
• In a recreationally therapeutic environment
• Builds self-esteem, confidence, trust and friendship
• Surrounds kids with counselors and peers who know first-hand what it means to have cancer
• Allows children to relax and enjoy the full gamut of fun camping activities: crafts, swimming, dancing, wall-climbing, singing, cooking, kayaking
• Where new and returning friends understand life's challenges and victories
• Where 100 adults of all ages and professions - from financial executives to attorneys to university students to homemakers - volunteer as counselors and witness first-hand the transformative power of Camp Happy Times in the lives of the children.

In honor of the 25th Anniversary of Camp Happy Times, a private individual has challenged The Valerie Fund to raise 25 gifts of at least $25,000 for The Valerie Fund Centers or Camp Happy Times in 2007. Reaching this goal will result in increased services and programs for the children, as well as additional funding from our challenger-friend.

Annual donors may wish to make an additional or increased gift to show the kids how much they care and to inspire others to do the same! Gifts to the Camp Happy Times 25th Anniversary Campaign will be recognized in The Valerie Fund honor roll.
