The Valerie Fund Presents Photo Exhibit -
"Stories of Hope and Healing"
The Valerie Fund will be premiering a photo exhibit entitled "Stories of Hope and Healing" on April 19th at "A Truly Happy Hour," sponsored by the Tycher Family Foundation at The W @ 49th and Lexington Avenue.
The photos are part of The Valerie Fund's 30th Anniversary. The Valerie Fund is proud and delighted to have helped thousands of children and their families over the past thirty years through our network of facilities for treating children with cancer and blood disorders close to home. Throughout this photo exhibit you will find quotes from individuals who have been helped by The Valerie Fund. Each of the patients is photographed with one of their caregivers from a Valerie Fund Center. Some are children, some are now adults; some are cured, some are still undergoing treatment. All of them, including their families, believe that their experience with illness, and their lives in general, would have been even more traumatic and difficult without The Valerie Fund. The featured individuals, who come from a wide cross-section of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, have all had their lives profoundly touched by the work of The Valerie Fund. Please read their stories and reflect upon the "hope and healing" The Valerie Fund has brought to their lives.
The photography for this fine art exhibit was generously donated by The Image Maker of Berkeley Heights and Mendham, NJ. The Image Maker photographers are best known for their insightful approach to each and every portrait of children and families they produce. Joseph Galioto, owner of The Image Maker and his wife Judy have been involved with The Valerie Fund for more than 20 years. Joe explained, "Our objective was to capture the essence of the very special relationship each patient shares with their caregiver. I have had the unique opportunity to witness this bond at both the Centers and Camp Happy Times, and I have come to recognize the enormous impact it can have on the treatment of a child."
The exhibit is available for presentation by corporations or other institutions.
For information on showing the exhibit please contact Bunny Flanders, or call 973-761-0422.
The Valerie Fund is supported through corporate and foundation grants, special and community events, individual donations, bequests and direct mail solicitations. The organization is located at 2101 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, NJ.
