JAG Physical Therapy and WCBS-TV Sponsor Valerie Fund Walk and 5K Run
The Valerie is proud to announce their annual Walk-A-Thon and 5K Run on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Verona Park in Verona.
Steve Bartelstein, of WCBS, will be the MC for this event. Steve is currently co-anchor of CBS2 HD's weekend morning newscasts alongside Mary Calvi.
JAG Physical Therapy is sponsoring for the second year. "Our staff and I have wanted JAG to be a strong part of the community and our help with this event again this year it is our way to give back." said John Gallucci.
The walkers and runners will be supporting comprehensive health care services for children with cancer and blood disorders. That has been the mission for the Valerie Fund since 1976 and the organization is exceptionally pleased to have hundreds of people walking and running at Verona Park to support its cause. And, of course, the event creates a festival atmosphere with plenty of food and competition.
Both walkers and runners can register for the event at www.thevaleriefund.org or call (973)761-0422. Registration is free for all walkers with a recommendation of $30 in sponsorships, while runners have a $20 registration fee. Registration for the run is at 9:00AM, followed by walk registration at 10:00AM.
All participants receive a free t-shirt and refreshments will be served at the site. The 5K race will have cash prizes of $250 for both the male and female winners along with $150 for second place and $100 for third place. There will also be prizes for the walkers in various categories.
The Valerie Fund is supported through corporate and foundation grants, special and community events, individual donations, bequests and direct mail solicitations. The organization is located at 2101 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, NJ.
