Announces the Winner
2007 Audi A4 Cabriolet
In honor of our 30th Anniversary, The Valerie Fund held a raffle for a 2007 Audi A4 Cabriolet.
The drawing was held on August 21st at the American Express Charity Golf outing at the Baltusrol Golf course in Springfield, New Jersey. The car was provided in co-operation with Bell Audi.
The winner is Nancy Russo, of Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Nancy is an employee of Overlook Hospital. She has worked for Atlantic Health for 18 years. Nancy said, "I was enjoying the end of a beautiful day on the beach thinking, 'It just doesn’t get any better than this', when the call came through with the news that I had won the car. Needless to say there was quite a bit of excitement around me. I bought the ticket several months back to support the Valerie Fund, never dreaming of this outcome."
Nancy became familiar with the Valerie Fund through her involvement at a New York camp for children with cancer and blood disorders.
The Valerie Fund’s mission is to provide financial support for comprehensive health care of children with cancer and blood disorders.
A not-for-profit organization established in 1976 in memory of nine-year-old Valerie Goldstein by her parents, Ed and Sue, who saw the need for making quality outpatient care available close to a child’s home. They realized that parents of sick children should not have to contend with exhaustive commutes to reach adequate medical care. Their grass-roots effort began in their basement with the help of dedicated friends and family.
Today, The Valerie Fund Children’s Centers, located at major hospitals in the tri-state area, comprise one of the nation’s largest networks of health care facilities for children with cancer and blood disorders. These centers treat more than 5,000 children with cancer and blood disorders.
The Valerie Fund is supported through corporate and foundation grants, special and community events, individual donations, bequests and direct mail solicitations. The organization is located at 2101 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, NJ.
