The Valerie Fund Elects New Board Members

Janet Keating, Chairman of The Valerie Fund board, announced the appointment of two new board members effective immediately. The new board members are Joe Mangione and Diane Young M.D., oncologist.

Mr. Mangione has had a long career in media sales and marketing. Most recently he was President of Sales & Marketing, CanWest MediaWorks. He has also worked as Senior Vice President at Time Warner where he was responsible for all multi-platform integrated sales and marketing relationships across the US. Prior to that, Mr. Mangione was Senior Vice President, Global Client Solutions, at Turner Broadcasting. Previous positions included Publisher, Integrated Marketing at Better Homes and Gardens where his activities spanned print and TV properties. Mr. Mangione and his family are long time residents of Cedar Grove, NJ.

Dr. Young is currently the Vice President of Clinical Development at Novartis Oncology. In this position, she oversees the development of a diverse pipeline of oncology and hematology products, including targeted therapies, cytotoxic chemotherapy, iron chelation therapy, and others. She leads a global group of clinical research personnel. She has pursued her career in research in the pharmaceutical industry for eighteen years, with positions of increasing responsibility at Hoffman-La Roche, Sandoz, and Johnson and Johnson, prior to joining Novartis. Dr. Young lives in Summit, New Jersey, with her husband, Dr. Robert Mich, and their two children, Shannon, 17, and Ryan, 15.
