The primary purpose of The Valerie Fund's Child Life and Social Services Program is to prepare children who are diagnosed with cancer emotionally, socially, and developmentally for what lies ahead. It complements the medical attention each child receives at The Valerie Fund Children's Centers.
Using a multi-disciplinary treatment team, the child life specialists and social workers are able to provide programs and services appropriate for each child's developmental, emotional and educational needs in a family-centered care environment, both during and after treatment.
