Meet the Staff: Leslie Conner
Leslie Conner is an Integrative Health Specialist for the Valerie Fund’s Pediatric Oncology and Blood Disorder Department at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, providing mindfulness based supportive care for the mind, body, and spirit of patients and their families.
Leslie has a Masters Certification in Thanatology (study of death, dying, and grief) from the University of Maryland, is a trained End of Life Doula through the International End of Life Doula Association, a Usui Reiki Master, and registered yoga and meditation teacher (E-RYT-500). She has extensive experience working with individuals and groups in wellness centers, schools, private businesses, hospitals, and hospice centers, including ages 6 months to 99 years old.
Her goal is to help people manage the often-invisible experience of chronic stress, anxiety, and grief that comes along with serious illness or trauma, using proven and empowering mindfulness based self-regulation techniques.
Here is what Leslie has to say about working with The Valerie Fund:
I am happy to work with the Valerie Fund at Newark Beth Israel because I believe mindfulness-based mind, body, and spirit care empowers children and adults to successfully cope with serious illness and grief. By building a reliable tool kit of self-soothing skills, patients and their families are better able to manage chronic stress and anxiety, both in moments of crisis and over their lifetime. My professional goal is to make Integrative Health services more accessible in clinical settings, especially for children, and the Valerie Fund shares that enthusiasm!
