While our state of the art Valerie Fund Centers focus on the social and emotional well being of our patients and their families while going through treatment, we understand that there are many more ways to provide additional, much needed support. The programs and services we offer outside of our centers help patients and families cope with their anxieties and fears by providing the comfort of a shoulder to cry on, the compassion of an ear to listen and an overall sense of hope so critical in lifting everyone's spirits.
Since forming the Valerie Fund Scholarship Program in 2006, we have given financial support to hundreds of children treated at one of our seven centers to put towards a post-secondary education. We are grateful to our generous donors for making this scholarship program possible and allowing our children to continue their journey.
For more than 35 years, The Valerie Fund has operated Camp Happy Times, a one-week overnight camp experience for any child aged 5-21 who has or has had cancer, regardless of where they are treated. The Valerie Fund offers Camp Happy Times free of charge, including transportation, meals and on-site medical care.Over 150 children attend Camp Happy Times each summer.
“A favorite memory I have from Camp is catching 43 fish myself! The Valerie Fund also helped by giving me a VGo robot so I could see my friends at school and be a part of the end of year celebrations.”
